The Federal Reserve’s Empire State Manufacturing Survey indicates that NYS manufacturing rebounded in January after briefly dipping into negative territory in December for the first time in almost two years. The index climbed 11.18 points to 9.95, led by growth in New Orders and Shipments and Prices Received. The Future Conditions Index, reflecting anticipated business conditions six months ahead, jumped over 9 points to 48.35 points, its highest level in almost three years, indicating considerable optimism from NYS manufacturers for 2015.
