Curious about being an “angel” investor in startup companies? If so, you should attend an upcoming educational workshop to learn about angel investing and how this specialized asset class may offer high financial returns and support the growth of our local community.
The Western New York Venture Association, Buffalo Angels and Rochester Angel Network are hosting “Fundamentals of Angel Investing” presented by the Angel Capital Association in Buffalo on December 4 and Rochester on December 5.
The workshop features presentations and panel discussions on:
- Introduction to angel investing
- Anticipated returns
- Portfolio strategy
- Valuation of early-stage companies
- Conducting due diligence
- Understanding term sheets and
- Angel involvement in portfolio companies after the investment
After the formal workshop, enjoy a casual networking session over refreshments.
This workshop is targeted for current or potential angel investors who meet the U.S. securities law definition of an accredited investor (annual income of at least $200,000 as an individual or $300,000 with a spouse or partner: or net worth over $1 million excluding the value of their primary residence). If space is available, we will welcome founders of high-growth startups that are or may in the future be seeking angel or venture capital investment.
The workshops are offered at no cost to participants because of a prize awarded to the Western New York Venture Association from “Springboard”, a competition that provides cash prizes to organizations that help grow the entrepreneurial landscape in Buffalo-Niagara, the Rochester region, and the Southern Tier.
Details and Registration can be found for the Buffalo session here, or the Rochester session here.
