U.S. Manufacturing Up for First Time Since 2023

Manufacturing started 2025 with its best showing in over two years reportedly exceeding market expectations.  “U.S. manufacturing activity expanded in January after 26 consecutive months of contraction. Demand clearly improved, while output expanded” according to the January PMI Report from the Institute for Supply Management.  The index rose to 50.9 and increase of 1.7 points from December 2024 (a reading above 50.0 is consistent with expansion) led by increases in New Orders, Production and Employment.  See the full report here.
