NYS MANUFACTURING IMPROVES FOR SECOND MONTH IN A ROW

March’s Empire State Manufacturing Survey indicates that “conditions for New York manufacturers continued to improve modestly.”  The General Business Conditions Index was again positive at 9.2, led by new orders and shipments, which both remained in positive territory.  Manufacturers also indicated “an increasing level of optimism” about the six-month outlook.  The Future General Business Index rose to 36.4, its highest level in almost a year.
