Manufacturing activity grew in New York State for the first time in a year according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s Empire State Manufacturing Survey for September. The index came in at 11.5, up 16.2 points from last month. New York bucked the national trend which saw manufacturing contract for the 21st time in the last 22 months, according to the closely-watched PMI report from the Institute for Supply Management issued earlier this month.
