NY Manufacturing Drops to Start 2025

“After holding steady last month, manufacturing activity declined in New York State” according to the January Empire State Manufacturing Survey from the Federal Reserve Bank of NY.  The general business conditions index fell to -12.6, down almost 15 points from last month (a reading above 0.0 is consistent with expansion).  After starting 2024 at a 4-year low, the survey trended up, ending the year showing growth in manufacturing activity for 3 of the last 4 months.  See the full report here.
