The Brookings Institution issued a new Advanced Industries Report today identifying new trends and providing specific data for the 100 largest U.S. metropolitan areas. The report found that the sector continued to expand from 2013-2015, but growth “emanated from a narrower set of auto manufacturing and ‘tech’ service industries.” Buffalo-Cheektowaga-Niagara Falls ranked in the middle of the pack on several measures:
- #48 in Total Advanced Industry Jobs in 2015 with 44,614
- #58 in Advanced Industry Share of Jobs in 2015 with 7.9%
- #67 in Annual Average Change in Advanced Industry Jobs 2013-2015 at +0.8%
