MANUFACTURING ACTIVITY EXPANDS IN NYS

Manufacturing grew in NYS over the last month, although at a slower pace than September, according to the October Empire State Manufacturing Survey from the Federal Reserve Bank of NY.  The general business conditions index was 19.8, down from 34.3 last month (a reading above 0.0 is consistent with growth).  Some 39% of respondents indicated that conditions had improved in October while 20% said conditions worsened.  The future business conditions index increased to 52.0 signaling continued and growing optimism about conditions in the next six months.  Read the full report here.
