On Friday, October 4th we celebrate National Manufacturing Day. Why celebrate manufacturing? Let us count the reasons why:
- $2.9 Trillion1 – U.S. manufacturing’s annualized value-added output (10.1% of U.S. total);
- $80.7 Billion1 – NYS manufacturers value added comprising 3.9% of NYS GDP;
- 12.9 million1 – the number of manufacturing employees in the U.S. as of August 2024;
- 422,7002 – the number of people employed by NYS manufacturers, August 2024;
- 67,0002– the number of people employed by WNY manufacturers, August 2024;
- $98,8461 – the average compensation for U.S. manufacturing employees as of 2022;
- 53.0%1 – the portion of private-sector R&D done by U.S. manufacturers; and
- $5.1Billion3 – Cumulative impact of WNY manufacturers’ projects with Insyte Consulting.
Perhaps we should celebrate manufacturing in New York State and nationwide EVERY day!
