Insyte Consulting’s Jack McGowan was featured or quoted in three recent reports about startup funding and the WNY startup ecosystem. As part of his work at Insyte, Jack serves as the Executive Director of the Western New York Venture Association and the Buffalo Angels. This furthers Insyte’s efforts to help local high-growth startups raise the funding they need to grow and contribute to the prosperity of Western New York.
Paul O’Brien, a startup ecosystem strategist, entrepreneur, and author of the book Startup Ecosystems published the article “Buffalo Was the First Electric City in the World. Bob Confer, host of Lockport Community Television’s program “WNY Tonight” and president of Confer Plastics, invited Jack to discuss angel investing in our region. The WNY Venture Association hosts “Shark Tank, but local” forums that feature presentations by local startups and promote interaction among potential investors, entrepreneurs, business professionals, and supporters of the WNY startup community. The Angel Capital Association spotlighted the Buffalo Angels in the “How Angel Groups Are Using Investment Tracking” section of the Angel Capital Association’s 2026 Angel Funding Report. The Angel Funding Report collects and analyzes data reported by angel investors to strengthen the industry’s understanding of what drives successful early-stage investing outcomes over time.
