Fritz Hollings, former South Carolina Senator and Governor and the father of the Federal Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), passed away last week at 97. The Senator could count many accomplishments in his long career of service, but manufacturers in WNY and around the country may know him best for his role in founding MEP in 1988 as a means to help small and mid-sized manufacturers improve their competitiveness in an increasingly global world. As the MEP center for WNY, Insyte Consulting carries on Senator Hollings legacy, helping small and mid-sized manufacturers throughout Erie, Niagara, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties with growth, continuous improvement, succession planning, new technologies and many other services. Since 2000, those efforts have resulted in over $2.9 billion in benefits in WNY alone, including over 13,500 jobs created or saved, according to independent, third-party surveys of Insyte’s clients conducted for the U.S. Department of Commerce. Insyte is proud to be part of Senator Hollings’ legacy and to serve manufacturers throughout WNY.
