United Biochemicals, Inc. (UBI) located in Sanborn, NY is leading manufacturer and bulk distributor of high-quality biochemicals, reagents and custom solutions serving many of the most innovative companies found within the life sciences marketplace.
UBI, like many companies, was experiencing “growing pains”. They realized that in order to accommodate expanding their business and sustain their forward progress, they needed to address a wide range of issues from growth to manufacturing productivity.
Having already engaged Insyte Consulting in a successful ISO 9001:2001 certification effort, UBI discussed their concerns with Insyte. Together, they agreed to perform an assessment to identify and prioritize UBI’s needs.
The assessment revealed opportunities and needs in three areas: top line growth, operational improvement and information technology. Insyte then created a customized program to systematically address each of these areas. Starting with growth, a joint UBI-Insyte team developed and implemented a strategic and marketing plan. This plan defined and prioritized specific objectives and actions to achieve UBI’s long-term goals. To improve operations, Insyte worked with UBI to upgrade production scheduling and increase throughput using Lean and other tools.
Finally, Insyte’s IT experts worked with UBI on requirements definition, selection and implementation of a new ERP system. Insyte’s methodology and experience ensured that UBI completed the selection and implementation within their budget and timeline.
