As part of the Buffalo-Rochester-Syracuse NY SMART I-Corridor semiconductor initiative, which received a $40 million Tech Hub award from the U.S. Economic Development Agency, Insyte is helping WNY manufacturers to increase their capacity and/or capabilities to support semiconductor fabs in Syracuse (Micron) and Ohio (Intel). Once these sites are active, over 25% of U.S. semiconductor chips will be made within 350 miles of Syracuse. The consulting support Insyte provides to WNY manufacturers is eligible for reimbursement grants covering a portion of technical assistance costs.
A recent Buffalo Business First article highlights how leaders behind the NY SMART I-Corridor are working to get more local companies ready to become Micron suppliers and tap into the state’s fast-growing industry.
“Ben Rand, Insyte president, said his organization has been helping companies achieve certifications in quality assurance like ISO 9001 or AS9100, an aerospace standard that many chip fabs require. He said companies are also working to achieve the cybersecurity maturity model certification required for defense contracts.”
