DUNKIRK PLANT TO CLOSE

According to the Buffalo News, Berry Plastics, a Fortune 500 company with 20,000 employees worldwide, will shutter its injection and blow-molded packaging operations in Dunkirk, which employ 54 workers, by the end of October. Previously known as Captive Plastics before being acquired by Berry in 2007, the highly automated Dunkirk plant was reportedly one of the highest performing of all Berry’s plants at one time. The facility focused on food processing and its largest customer was another Dunkirk business, Carriage House, which was acquired first by Ralcorp and then by Con Agra which moved production out of state and closed the Carriage House operations in early 2015. See the Buffalo News article here.
