Entering New Markets with AS9100

The Company
Niagara Specialty Metals, Inc. (NSM), located in Akron, NY is a rolling mill that processes highly alloyed steels into sheet and plate. They also provide conversion processes for titanium, temperature and corrosion resistant metals, electronic alloys, and other difficult to manufacture metals.
The Challenge
NSM wanted to drive future growth in the aerospace industry by obtaining AS9100 quality certification, the industry standard. AS9100 certification would also ensure that their business operations were repeatable and consistent.
Our Solution
Insyte and the NSM team embarked on step-by-step process toward certification, breaking the project into two phases. Phase One consisted of training company personnel in the AS9100 standard, developing required procedures, identifying quality metrics and creating all necessary forms.
Phase Two consisted of implementing the quality system and generating records to demonstrate the system’s functionality and effectiveness. During this phase, Insyte and NSM conducted internal audits and identified additional changes and modifications to improve the quality system. Insyte also supported the company during their certification audit.
