LOCAL MANUFACTURING EXPANSION UNINTERRUPTED

The Buffalo Institute of Supply Management’s October PMI Index came in at 55.5 indicated continued growth in local manufacturing, albeit at a slightly slower rate than September’s 57.4. This decrease is less than the National ISM Index for October and appears better than the most recent statewide readings from the NY Fed’s Empire State Manufacturing Survey. However, there were some soft spots locally. New Orders registered 50.0, barely growing, while Employment actually contracted, that index dropping to 45.0 from 54.5. See the full report here: BuffaloISM_October2014
