IN MEMORIAM – G. WAYNE HAWK

Western New York lost a well-respected member of our manufacturing and aerospace community this week and Insyte Consulting lost a long-time board member and champion.  During his long career G. Wayne Hawk served as executive vice president of Moog Inc., president of Carleton Technologies, and president of Acme Electric Corporation.  Mr. Hawk’s reputation was more than local as he served on the boards of multinational companies, including Lear and Martin Marietta.  A graduate of Purdue University and the University of Southern California, Mr. Hawk moved to our area in 1957 and began a long career at Moog Inc.  He never left.  He was an early supporter of the Western New York start-up community, investing in a portfolio of start-up technology companies including Comptek Research, Inc. and Barrister Information Systems.  He also served on the boards of many community organizations, including Insyte Consulting (formerly the Western New York Technology Development Center, Inc.) from 1989 to 2007 and chaired that board from 1993 to 1997.  We will miss his entrepreneurial spirit.
