STRONG MAY FOR NYS MANUFACTURING

Statewide manufacturing is expanding according the May Empire State Manufacturing Survey which was up 4.3 points to 20.1 (a level above 0 indicates growth). Optimism among NYS manufacturers rebounded in May as the 6-month outlook climbed to 31.1 after falling sharply to 18.3 in April. Prices Paid continued its steady increase, reaching its highest level in seven years, suggesting that trade and supply uncertainty may be driving prices up. All the sub-indices also increased, with the exceptions of Delivery Times and Average Employee Work Week. See the full report here.
