Today is National Manufacturing Day when we recognize the important role that manufacturing plays in the American economy. Nowhere is that more true than in WNY, where we have a proud legacy of manufacturing greatness that continues! Our 66,600 direct manufacturing jobs account for one of every ten jobs in WNY and, indirectly, for three times that number of jobs in related and supporting businesses ranging from legal services to food services. Manufacturing contributes $8.4 billion (2017) in gross domestic product just for the Buffalo-Niagara Metropolitan Statistical Area, second only to Financial Services in the private sector. Manufacturing is indeed alive and well in WNY and playing a major role in our economic success and we’re not done yet!
