STATE’S MANUFACTURERS SLUGGISH IN MARCH

The Empire State Manufacturing Survey’s general business conditions index fell 5.1 points to 3.7 indicating business grew “only slightly” in March for New York State manufacturers. New Orders (3.0), Shipments (7.7) and Delivery Time (1.4) all mimic the same minimal expansion (a reading above 0.0 indicates expansion).  Prices Paid increased 7.0 points to 34.1, the first uptick in four months for this indicator. The six-month future outlook was also down slightly from its February level to 29.6 indicating some cooling in optimism. See the full report here.
