INSIGHTS: FALL 2019 — INSYTE’S BIG MOVE

Insyte Consulting’s recent relocation is a change of address with strategic implications for us and for Western New York manufacturers.

Insyte Consulting’s recent relocation is a change of address with strategic implications for us and for Western New York manufacturers. By co-locating with our partners at Buffalo Manufacturing Works, the Buffalo Niagara Manufacturing Alliance (BNMA), the Northland Workforce Training Center, and the World Trade Center Buffalo Niagara (WTCBN), we have become part of a powerful one-stop-shop—first envisioned in WNY’s regional strategic plan—offering a range of key services and assistance to increase the competitiveness of manufacturers throughout our region.
After 16 years at the Larkin Building on Exchange Street, Insyte Consulting has moved a scant 3.8 miles away to the new Northland Central building at 683 Northland Avenue in Buffalo, between Fillmore and Grider. While we’re sorry to leave Larkin behind, we’re excited about what Northland means for us, our partners, and our WNY manufacturing clients.

This move is the fruition of a key portion of the Regional Economic Development Council (REDC) plan that dates back to 2011. The REDC’s Advanced Manufacturing Working Group envisioned combining world-class technology, workforce, and process improvement assets under one roof to help WNY manufacturers improve their competitiveness.

Now, those technology (Buffalo Manufacturing Works), workforce (Northland Workforce Training Center), and process improvement (Insyte Consulting) resources are all operating together from our new home. Throw in World Trade Center Buffalo Niagara and the Buffalo Niagara Manufacturing Alliance (the leading association for manufacturers in our area), and we can boast a critical mass of people, equipment, and expertise to support WNY manufacturers, their 65,000 direct manufacturing jobs, and their more than $9 billion in annual gross domestic product.

Although Insyte is part of the national Manufacturing Extension Partnership Program, this combination and co-location of assets is unusual among our peers around the country. So much so that we believe it will give WNY manufacturing a competitive advantage relative to other regions in the United States and beyond. The ability to train advanced manufacturing workers, deploy the latest manufacturing technologies, and deliver process excellence will set our area apart, encouraging manufacturers to invest, locate, and stay in WNY.

For the moment, we’re still unpacking and working through our punch list. But soon, we’ll be welcoming visitors and encouraging you to take full advantage of this tremendous set of assets designed specifically to make WNY manufacturers more competitive, more profitable, and more successful.
